How are my property tax dollars allocated?

For residential property taxes:

• 77% of your property taxes go to the Town of Ponoka;
• 22% to the Alberta Government for education taxes. The province distributes the dollars to the public and separate school boards on a per student basis; and
• 1% goes to Seniors Housing (which the Town is required to collect on behalf of Rimoka Housing Foundation).
  
  

For commercial property taxes:

• 74.5% of your property taxes go to the Town of Ponoka;
• 25% to the Alberta Government for education taxes. The province distributes the dollars to the public and separate school boards on a per student basis; and
• 0.5% goes to Seniors Housing (which the Town is required to collect on behalf of Rimoka Housing Foundation).
