On this day, the flags at the Ponoka Civic Centre will be at half-mast in honour of Firefighters' National Memorial Day, which occurs on the second Sunday every September.
This National Memorial Day gives Canadians an opportunity to remember firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. This day is also an opportunity to commemorate and salute firefighters for their courage and unwavering commitment to serving their local communities.
