Join Us for Disc Golf Grand Opening and Coffee with Council on June 14
Event Offers Free BBQ and Disc Golf Tips and Tricks
The Town of Ponoka and Ponoka Arts, Recreation and Culture Society (PARCS) are excited to announce the grand opening celebration of Ponoka’s new 18-hole disc golf course on Saturday, June 14. This event will run from 12 to 2 p.m. at Riverside Rotary Park (3712 45 Street).
The grand opening celebration will include:
- A free barbecue;
- Tips and tricks on how to play disc golf;
- A ribbon-cutting ceremony; and
- Coffee with Council, where citizens can share input and ideas on the 2026 Town of Ponoka Budget.
“Thanks to the generous $15,000 donation from PARCS, the year-round disc golf course will enrich Ponoka for years to come. We anticipate this new recreational amenity will attract visitors to Ponoka, boosting community pride and tourism,” said Ponoka Mayor Kevin Ferguson.
“We are very excited to be opening this new disc golf course to the community. The course will be a space for casual play and organized events, offering a unique recreation opportunity and a place for people to connect,” said Amanda Henderson-Kada, Board Chair for PARCS.
The disc golf course will welcome all ages and skill levels. Disc golf is often described as a blend of traditional golf and frisbee. Players use flying discs to complete a course by aiming for chain baskets. Please click here to view the disc golf course map.
“It’s a sport that’s easy to learn yet challenging to master. The game appeals to everyone, from families looking for outdoor fun to avid enthusiasts seeking a competitive edge,” said Henderson-Kada.
Coffee with Council
Coffee with Council will also be held during the disc golf grand opening celebration. During this event, citizens can provide their thoughts and ideas on the 2026 Town of Ponoka Budget by filling out a Citizen Input Survey.
The annual public consultation process on the Town Budget is an important part of the Town’s ongoing commitment to inviting public participation in Council decision-making processes. Inviting public input helps Town Council to make more informed and thoughtful decisions that reflect what residents value most.
Citizen input that is collected from the Citizen Input Survey and from public feedback received during Coffee with Council events will be summarized and presented to Town Council for careful review and consideration during the 2026 Budget deliberation process.
