5.1/8.1 RCMP Multi-Year Financial Plan

The Ponoka RCMP presented their Multi-Year Financial Plan (MYFP), which includes cost projections for the next five years (April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2031). The plan reflects the ongoing cooperation between the RCMP and the Town of Ponoka to ensure effective municipal policing in the community. 

Council passed a motion acknowledging support of the Ponoka Municipal Detachment Multi-Year Financial Plan for April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2031 with an agreement in principle only and will consider the MYFP during the Town’s the budget deliberation process next month.

Council also authorized the Mayor's signature on the Multi-Year Financial Plan in accordance with the Municipal Police Service Agreement.

8.2 Parks and Trails Lighting Assessment

Council approved a motion to refer the draft Parks and Trail Lighting Assessment to the Town of Ponoka Community Enhancement Committee for review. For more information about the Community Enhancement Committee, please click here.

The Parks and Trail Lighting Assessment reviewed existing lighting conditions across 16 parks and multiple trail systems in the Town of Ponoka. The assessment identifies gaps in illumination, inconsistencies in fixture types and areas of concern for public safety and usability.

13.1 Notice of Motion – Christmas Tree Lighting Program 

Council submitted a Notice of Motion directing administration to look into lighting the tree in front of the Ponoka Drop-In Centre this year as part of the Christmas Tree Lighting Program.
