Special Ballots Can Be Requested for the Municipal Election

Someone is putting a ballot card in a ballot box.Did you know that if you are unable to attend election day polls or advanced polls to vote in the upcoming municipal election this fall, you can request a special ballot? Special ballot requests can be submitted from now until October 15 (before 4 p.m.)

Special ballots are available to eligible voters who are:

  • Unable to vote at polling stations during advanced voting or on election day (for example, due to travel plans, or health or mobility issues); and
  • Are registered and listed on the Permanent Electors Register. If you are not registered to vote, you can apply by clicking here or by phoning 403-783-4431. 

To request a special ballot package, please submit your request by:

  • Phone at 403-783-4431;
  • Email at election@ponoka.ca;
  • In-person at the Town Office on the second floor of the Ponoka Civic Centre; or
  • Mail (Town of Ponoka, 200-5604 50 St, Ponoka, AB, T4J 1G5).

Municipal Election Scheduled for Monday, October 20

During the upcoming municipal election, Ponoka residents will be able to vote for members of Town Council, which consists of one mayor and six councillors. Residents will also be able to vote for trustees for Wolf Creek Public Schools and Saint Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools.
