Ponoka Aquaplex is Offering Courses for Youth and Adults Who Want to Become a Lifeguard

Two Ponoka Aquaplex LifeguardsThe Ponoka Aquaplex is excited to offer a series of courses that are the first steps you need to take to become a lifeguard: the Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, and Intermediate First Aid courses.

These courses are available on the following dates and times at the Ponoka Aquaplex:

  • Intermediate First Aid: February 9, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Bronze Medallion/Cross: February 16, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.; February 20 – 23, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The cost to enroll in all three courses is $398. Participants must be 13 years of age or have completed the Bronze Star lifesaving program before they can enroll in any of courses listed above.

Course Overview

The Intermediate First Aid, Bronze Cross, and Bronze Medallion are certification courses that provide individuals with enhanced life-saving skills and water safety expertise. Intermediate First Aid builds on basic first aid training, covering comprehensive emergency response. Bronze Cross focuses on water safety and rescue techniques, while Bronze Medallion further refines aquatic proficiency, including endurance swimming and rescue drills.
