Street Sweeping in Ponoka Moves to Lucas Heights (Zone 1) this Week

Watch for ‘No Parking’ Signs; Move Parked Vehicles and On-Street Obstructions

Street sweeping operations in the Town of Ponoka will move to Lucas Heights (Zone 1) starting tomorrow Wednesday, May 21 (weather permitting) beginning with priority routes, followed by residential streets.

How to prepare your street for a clean sweep:

  • Watch for community advisory signs, which are posted 48 hours in advance to give residents notice of when street sweeping is scheduled to occur in their neighbourhood;
  • Please move parked vehicles from roadways on which ‘no parking’ signs are posted. This is a requirement under the Town’s Traffic Bylaw 388-17 and may result in fines and towing of the vehicle at the owner’s expense if needed;
  • Please remove basketball nets, driveway mats and any on-street obstructions;
  • Sweep any dirt or debris on your driveway or sidewalk into the gutter in advance;
  • Street sweeping will not occur on your waste collection day. Please roll out your carts and bagged recycling as you normally would; and
  • Do not park on the street until ‘no parking’ signs have been removed.

Motorists are asked to keep a safe distance from the street sweeper and take alternate routes to avoid street sweeping equipment where possible.
