Council Meeting Highlights for November 10, 2025

Regular Meeting of Council: 

7.1      Town Speed Limit

Council approved a Notice of Motion directing Administration to look into reducing the speed limit to 40 kms/hour in the Town of Ponoka with the exception of playground and school zones.

7.2      48 Avenue Traffic and Safety Concerns

Council approved a Notice of Motion directing Administration to review 48 Avenue by Ponoka Elementary School for safety and traffic calming, in collaboration with school officials.

7.3      Central Park Interactive Play Space

Council approved a Notice of Motion directing Administration to explore ideas for an interactive play space for Central Park that will maintain the aesthetic feel of the park.

7.4      Town of Ponoka Bike Registry Program

Council accepted the Bike Registry Program report as information. 

The Town of Ponoka and the RCMP have joined forces to launch a free online bike registry for citizens in the Town of Ponoka. The new bike registry aids in returning stolen bikes back to their rightful owners. Citizens can register their bike:

  • Online by clicking here;
  • In person at the Ponoka Arena Complex (4410 54 Street) or Ponoka Aquaplex (5315 46 Avenue); or
  • By phone at 403-783-0131. 

If your bike is stolen, your online profile will be shared with the Ponoka RCMP with the make, model and serial number of your bike, along with your contact information. Learn more by clicking here.

12.1    Notice of Motion – Country Residential

Councillor Carla Lloyd made a Notice of Motion directing Administration to explore the possibility of country residential designations in the Town of Ponoka.

12.2    Notice of Motion - Crosswalks

Councillor Carla Lloyd made a Notice of Motion directing Administration to look into crosswalk markings around the community, specifically around playground areas, at intersections, and a potential veterans’ crosswalk by the Ponoka Legion.
