When Do I Need a Town of Ponoka Permit?Most construction and demolition projects and some renovation projects require a Town of Ponoka permit before the work begins.

The type of permit you will need depends on the work being done. The different kinds of permits that may be needed include development, building, electrical, plumbing and gas permits. 

Work that may require a permit includes: 

  • Constructing a new home, garage, building or shed on your property; 
  • Building an addition, secondary suite or developing a basement; 
  • Relocating a manufactured home; 
  • Replacing or installing a furnace, air conditioner, hot water tank or a wood burning stove; 
  • Demolishing a building; 
  • Completing exterior structural renovations; 
  • Installing a hot tub; and 
  • Some interior renovations.
