Dog and Cat Licences

All cats and dogs six months of age and older must be licensed annually under the Town's Animal Control Bylaw #424-19Licences are effective from January 1 to December 31 of the calendar year.

An animal licence is your pet's ticket home if they go missing and helps ensure they can more easily be returned home safely by the Town's Animal Control Contractor who would have an up-to-date record of how to contact the pet's owners.

Licensing saves pet owners added cost if your animal accidentally escapes your property, which can result in a fine for failing to license your cat or dog.

Animal licence fees also help offset the cost of animal control services provided by the Town of Ponoka.

If you are a first-time pet owner or a new resident of the Town of Ponoka, your cat or dog must be licenced within 30 days of moving to Town or picking up your new animal. First-time pet owners and new residents are eligible for the Early Bird fees when applying for a licence.
