Accepted Items at the Waste Transfer Station
The Ponoka Waste Transfer Station collects a large variety of items for disposal and recycling, including:
- Asphalt
- Box springs and mattresses
- Compostable yard materials
- Concrete
- Electronics
- Fluorescent light bulbs
- Household batteries
- Household hazardous waste
- Metal (general scrap, cable and wire)
- Oil containers and filters
- Propane tanks
- Recyclable items
- Rubble (if from a fire it must be clean and separated)
- Solid waste (garbage, furniture, drywall, toilets, shingles)
- Vehicle tires without rims
- Bicycle tires without inner tubes
- Used oil
- Used tires
- Vehicle batteries
- White goods (freezers, refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves, washers and dryers)
- Wood (treated, painted, and/or stained wood, as well as particle board; must be cut into five-foot-long and three-foot-wide pieces and placed in the blue building at the Waste Transfer Station)
